What else is offered
Beyond lab space, SBMC supports your innovation from early concept to application-ready solutions. Services include:

  • Concept & feasibility support – translating ideas into defined applications, material selection, and early performance assessment
  • Biomaterials development – optimisation of material composition, structure, and functional performance
  • Process development & prototyping – establishing reproducible workflows and scalable processing strategies
  • Integrated characterisation & biological evaluation – linking mechanical, structural, and biological testing to real development questions
  • Method validation – Expertise in establishing analytical methods and validating them for product-specific challenges.
  • Quality & regulatory alignment – structured documentation, test method development, and generation of reproducible datasets
  • Validation & scale-up readiness – refining prototypes and preparing for pilot production or further development

End-to-end support ensures your material evolves into a reliable, well-characterised product ready for next-stage development or regulatory pathways.

Pilot Production Facility

Alongside the Development Facility, SBMC’s provides a cleanroom facility, situated in a multi-tenant building on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The facility includes a cleanroom area, storage rooms (23 – 30 m2) and a QC laboratory.

The cleanroom consists of a central, controlled not-classified (CNC) corridor, which is accessible for personnel via a consecutive shared gowning area, and for materials and/or equipment via a shared material airlock.  All cleanroom areas can be accessed from the central CNC corridor. Each of the four cleanroom production areas is reachable via two dedicated consecutive personnel air locks.

A technical room is located between two adjacent cleanrooms, providing space for production area-related, external equipment.  Cleanrooms 1 (58 m2) & 4 (112 m2), and 2 (43 m2) & 3 (53 m2) can be directly connected when desired. Cleanroom production areas are temperature controlled, and relative humidity is monitored.

Their contract research & development department and flexible lab space are located at the Catalyst building on the TU/e campus, which underpins their close collaboration with the various research groups. SBMC is embedded in the Brainport Eindhoven ecosystem, where biomaterials, MedTech and advanced manufacturing converge. This environment connects research, development and industry, accelerating the translation from concept to application

Quality as a service

SBMC provides Quality Management as a Service (QMaaS), ensuring that all projects comply with strict regulatory requirements. This means you don’t have to retrofit compliance later in the process.

  • QMS Blueprints: Standardized quality management procedures
  • ISO 13485:2016 Compliance: Guidance and support for medical device regulations

SBMC’s development facility is located on the campus of Eindhoven University of Technology The TU/e campus in Eindhoven is easily accessible by public transport, car and bicycle. Eindhoven Central Station is within walking distance (±15 minutes) and is well connected by train and bus services. By car, the campus can be reached via the A2 and A67 motorways, with several parking facilities available on and around the campus. The TU/e campus is also fully integrated into Eindhoven’s cycling network, making it convenient and sustainable to reach by bike.
